Health Care Reform Summary - Updated 4/24/12: addresses how the legislation will affect employers and their group health plans. The summary applies to all employers (including government and church plans) that provide health coverage to their employees. It applies to both insured plans and self-funded plans (except where otherwise indicated).
CPI-U Medical Care Component - Medical inflation is the increase since March 2011 in the overall medical care component of the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U) published by the DOL. It can be used to determine if a benefit option will lose its status as a grandfathered plan. Medical inflation as of March 2012 is 333.188 or 3.3%.
